Volunteer Opportunities include:

Board of Directors – We seek candidates for our volunteer board to meet our mission to provide love, connections, and resources to families on a challenging journey. The board meets the fourth Tuesday of each month from 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. via Zoom or in person at the Family Achievement Center in Woodbury or Bloomington, MN. Board members are expected to also serve on at least one committee which meets once monthly for an hour. We seek candidates with the following skills and experience: marketing, business development, special events, fundraising, legal, financial planning, community and nonprofit service, special education, and prior board service. Board members are expected to market and promote the organization to help drive awareness of programming and fundraising opportunities.

Committee Service – We seek volunteers to serve on our committees which include: Finance, Program & Resources Development, Fundraising, Marketing, Directors & Governance, Gala Planning, Parent Recognition and Parent Retreat. Committees typically meet once monthly for an hour via Zoom. Serving on a committee provides valuable experience for volunteer skills development and potentially serving on the Board.

Parent Council – We seek parents who are on a challenging journey to serve on the Parent Council. The Council is comprised of 10-12 such parents who meet in person with Foundation board members every other month for 90 minutes. The Parent Council provides feedback and direction to the Foundation to plan education workshops, networking opportunities, recognition programs and other targeted resources. Each Council volunteer also receives complimentary admission to the Foundation’s annual Gala in the October.

Event Support – We seek volunteers to help with events including the Move To Your Own Groove All Abilities Race in Woodbury’s Colby Lake Park the second Sunday morning in September, and the Fundraising Gala in October. Serve with other volunteers to plan event details, greet guests and help with check-in, distribute literature, and similar assignments. The activities are fun, rewarding and provide valuable event experience.
